The Koobface worm is back for an encore. After an initial appearance on Facebook and MySpace back in July, the worm is back out in force and likely coming at you via an email from one of your buddies at Facebook.
As always, when in doubt, don't open links in email messages as they may direct you to sites that will download malicious software on your machine. If you really must see that super funny joke, or Brittany's latest exploit, type the URL directly into the browser so you can be sure where you are going.
In the case of Koobface, clicking on the email link will download software that monitor your web traffic to change search results and commit ad fraud. In the future the software could be modified to exploit other vulnerabilities on the PC.
Facebook reports that users with up to date virus software have little to worry about. They have also posted a page that helps infected users remove the worm at http://www.facebook.com/security .
Does this only attack PCs? Or is this a problem for Macs as well?

Just because your paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
